Hi there!

- About Me -

I have spent the past 25 years helping organizations to gain insight into future-proof scenarios. I advised C-level in various types of sectors about the effect of socio-economic developments on their business operations and guided them in their decision-making process. As a manager, I have gone through various change processes myself.

I started my career as a financial journalist and worked for leading Dutch business media. In 2016 I became editorial manager and was one of the driving forces behind the transformation from a paper-first to a digital-first newsroom, the first in the Netherlands. In 2017, I became head sector research at ABN AMRO, where I was responsible for identifying the risks and opportunities of the bank's customers. ABN AMRO became the bank with the most quoted specialists for four years in a row. Customers invited me and my colleagues to guide them through complex problems.

I left the bank in the summer of 2022 to work independent as a change advisor and strategist at JOMO Change. As an assistant professor I'm affiliated with the master Leadership and Change at Vrije Universiteit.

- Skills -

Journalism

I know where the stories are, see the business trends and make them accessible for a wide audience via my articles and data research. This allowed me to take part in debates and made me a corporate insider.

Strategy

I guide senior managers through complex problems in order to be ready for the future. I interviewed c-level managers for many years about their strategic decisions and helped startups to keep their feet on the ground.

Presenting

For Het FD I presented different kind of events, like the Gazellen Awards and the Sijthoff Award. For other companies I did the same. At ABN AMRO I present occasionally a talkshow or lead a debate at an event.

Stories

What is a story worth if it doesn't touch you in the heart? Therefore, I always like to experiment with different genres, like narrative journalism and even a novel to write stories with impact. Digital gave me a broad range of new tools to tell and show the stories.

Code

Coding is one of the best things I've learned in recent years. First of all, it's another way to tell stories, but it's also good to learn how to make new products and prototypes in a world that is going digital. I've experienced how enriching it is to understand the nerds.

Teaching

As a university lecturer I'm affiliated with the master Leadership and Change at Vrije Universiteit. And in the past I taught financial journalism to adult students at the school of journalism in Utrecht. I also taught children at weekend and primary schools about financial literacy.
